Blur and Breath explores the emotional residue of movement — a visual score where layered abstraction stands in for line. Created through an intuitive, physical process and guided by the atmospheric track “Nightlite” by Bonobo, the work channels both breath and urgency. Drawing here is not traditional mark-making, but a rhythmic accumulation: traces of thought, memory, and instinct. Colour and contrast function as emotional contour lines, mapping internal states across scale. This piece is both a painting and a drawing in motion — a contemporary interpretation of linear expression through gesture, intuition, and movement. I was trilled to be a Finalist in the Academy Prize for Visual Art, New Zealand with Blur and Breath.
