Inspiration:
My inspiration comes from the world around me, textures, colors, impressions and suggestions. I’m particularly inspired by post-war abstraction. Artists such as Lee Krasner, Pearl Fines and Yayoi Kusama. I find it fascinating the way layering can create depth and surprises in an artwork. In my assemblage pieces I start with a base of gesso and then add collage elements. After that, I apply bold gestural layers of oil paint in different consistencies. This process allows me to create vibrant movements of colour and texture. Despite their smaller size, these pieces pack a lot of punch.
